The Salzburg Reading Desk© (SRD) is an instrument that helps eye care professionals assess reading acuity, speed and visual function. While simulating a natural reading environment, the SRD calculates distance corrected logMAR and reading speed at various illumination and contrast levels.
The SRD may be helpful in assessing patients with multi-focal or accommodating IOLs, patients with AMD or DR and patients with multi-focal contact lenses.
We will offer two versions of the SRD. A fixed distance research model and a model that assesses reading distance and speed.
The SRD has a CE mark. It is available in the USA as a computerized reading speed monitor that works exactly like the CE marked device. It is not cleared by the FDA as a reading acuity device.
“Assessment of reading performance is clinically relevant and useful for patients with any type of multifocal IOL because most will engage in reading activities for work and in their personal life after surgery.”
